Liam's Birthday Party

We had a little birthday party for Liam yesterday morning. Will's parents and his brother-in-law came over to celebrate this big milestone.

Liam didn't waste any time digging into his cake.

Chillin' with Uncle Kordon.

His present from Grandma and Grandpa was bigger than he was.

Everyone had fun playing with Liam's new gift.

Poll Results

This was a popular poll. I allowed everyone to vote more than once and, by the look of things, everyone had more than one favourite. Here is what you all voted for favourite foreign food.

     3 votes Chinese
     2 votes Indian
     2 votes Greek
     1 vote Mexican
     1 vote Japanese
     3 votes Italian
     2 votes Thai
     1 vote Korean

This was a hard one for me because I love lots of different kinds of foreign foods. I finally decided on Indian and Greek. Being a vegetarian, Indian offers the most choices for no-meat dishes. Will and I used to eat at one particular Indian restaurant quite often when we were still dating, but the kids have sensitive pallets and they don't like spicy food.  So we don't go anymore.  Tonight, though, we were sans girls so Will and I and Liam went to an Indian restaurant that's not too far from us. So good!!!  There is a really good Greek restaurant near Lise's house that we went to last time I was up for a visit. I had forgotten how much I loved it. There is also a cool vegan restaurant that I like to go to when I visit Lise. It's so good! (Sorry, Lise! I like to see you too, not just to eat out at the great places near you!)

Check out my new poll.

Liam's First Birthday

I can't believe that my little boy is a year old today. He must have known that today is his special day because he woke up early and he squealed when we gave him his presents. He was delighted with the new toys.

A Winnie-the-Pooh phone that plays music and talks and lights up. He has to fight Kyla to play with this.

A new book.

Liam also got two new outfits and a Tonka atv to push around. We're going to have a birthday party for him next weekend. Will's parents are out of town and we wanted to wait until they got back.

Lately Liam has become a "daddy's boy". When Will gets home from work in the evenings, Liam squeals and scoots as fast as he can to him. Sometimes he even says "da-da".  He wants lots of attention from his dad too. He gets very upset of Will walks past him without taking him into his arms, even if I'm already holding him. Let's hope that one of our children turns out not to be a mama's kid.

I want to send out happy birthday wishes to one of my oldest and dearest friends, Lise, who also shares Liam's birthday. Happy, happy birthday, Lise!!

Hair Cut

I finally did it. I got my hair cut. I've been wanting to do it for a while, but was hesitant. I use my hair as a shield - it's something to hide behind. But it was starting to look yucky. This morning I went and got it cut and I'm going to donate my tresses to Locks of Love. This will be the third time that I've done it.

BEFORE

AFTER

That's a lot of hair!
My head feels lighter now and my hair is healthier without all the scruffy ends. Now I can cut my shower time in half, not to mention all the shampoo and conditioner I had to use.

Poll Results

Thanks for voting in my poll. The results for favourite board game are:

      1 vote Risk
      1 vote Trivial Pursuit
      4 votes Scrabble

I voted for Scrabble. I love games that are challenging, but Trivial Pursuit is too hard for me. I don't know any sports questions. (shoot a home-run, score a par, catch a touch-down). I've always loved board games and I hope my kids will like them too so I have someone to play with.

Don't forget to check out my next poll.

Wednesday Afternoon

Liam, Kyla and I spent a quiet afternoon fooling around with the camera. Here are the results.

Kyla took this photo of me. With the help of Photo Shop Elements and the crop tool, I think this pic turned out great.

Me and my girl.

Kyla took this shot of Liam playing.

This seems to capture Kyla's two year old angst.

Liam discovered himself on the photo playback on the camera and loves to look at himself on the screen.

After our photo shoot, we all lay down for a nap. That's my kind of afternoon!

Celebrating Labour Day

I hope you all had a great holiday today. It's always fun to have an extra day off of work and school. We went to Boondocks with John and Angie, River and Raven. It's a like an amusement park with miniature golf, go carts, games and food. I haven't been there in years. Angie and I and Liam hung out while Will and John and the girls played. Everyone had a good time. The best part was just hanging out with friends.

Liam chillin' in the stroller.

Will and Moira in the go carts.

Daddy is helping Kyla with her golf swing.

River taking her turn. She got a hole-in-one at the end.

Raven bouncing in the "kiddie cove".

I always give Will warning that I'm going to post these photos on the blog, and yet he still insists on making faces. He's probably hoping that if he does that I won't post them. He doesn't know me very well, does he?
