Three days before Christmas I got a call that my grandma had died. Even though it didn't come as a complete surprise, it was still difficult news to hear. This past Friday, Liam and I flew home to go to her memorial service. About a hundred people came. It was so wonderful to see so many people come to honour her.

I have a lot of fond memories of Grandma. She used to let me drink tea when I came over to visit and we would play Scrabble. Erica and I would spend weekends at the trailer in Birch Bay and we would hang out at the beach. One time we were out making sandcastles and before we knew it the tide had come in and it felt like we were a long ways out. Grandma had to come out and rescue us. She liked to drink B-52's while watching Johnny Carson and she was a pretty decent golfer. I will really miss her. I'm so glad that I was able to spend so much time with her growing up and I feel like I am a better person for it.

I am really going to miss her too - she was always there so it is really weird now that she's not. I'm glad that I got to spend quite a bit of time with her in the last few months - she had this amazing memory and we would watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy together. She was a wonderful lady and I will miss her dearly.
She sounds like a really cool lady. I'm sorry you lost her! I hope your hearts will mend soon.

I'm sorry for your loss Robyn. What a beautiful post you put together for her, I love the photos - especially the one of her on the beach! The picture of her smiling at you on her knee is sweet. Such a resemblance between you and Kyla! I would love to see you post a bunch of pictures of you and Will as babies and children.
Thanks for all of your kind words. She was a fun lady, very liberal, which was sometimes shocking. She was ready to go, though. She was over 91 so I can't begrudge her for wanting to go.
Lise - I thought that I looked like Kyla too in that photo. That's a good idea about posting some pics of Will and I as kids. I'll have to put some together. That would be fun.
