We hope you all had a happy Halloween. Moira started counting the days last week. She couldn't wait. I made the costumes for the kids. Well, I bought Kyla a grey sweat suit and then made the tummy and ears out of felt. Moira wore white clothes and I made the wig and tail out of white yarn and her horn is paper. Our neighbourhood isn't that great for trick-or-treating so we took the girls to a subdivision by Moira's school. It was much more kid friendly. Kyla didn't know what to make out of going up to people's doors, but after about three houses she got the hang of it and was running up to the doors along side Moira. The girls had a good time.

Carving Pumpkins

I want to know what happened to carving a regular jack-o-lantern. You know, the triangle eyes and nose and some kind of goofy grin. At least Kyla got hers right! (Hers is the one on the right.)Now there are all of these fancy designs to scrape into the flesh. I ended up doing the cat pumpkin for Moira. It was such a pain, but she really wanted it and I didn't want to disappoint her. It took a couple of hours to prepare and carve these. I have to admit, though, they do look pretty cool!

Corn Maze

Will and I took the kids to a corn maze. It was a lot of fun. I've always wanted to go, but somehow having kids can be a good motivator to actually go and do things. We got lost more than once in the maze, but we eventually found our way out.

After we made it through the maze we went to the pumpkin patch and the girls picked out some pumpkins to carve. Moira helped Kyla pick out the little one she has in her hands. Liam slept in the sling the whole time so missed out on all of the fun.

Second Trip to the Pool

Liam's second trip to the pool proved to be more fun. He was awake this time and enjoyed the water. He was a hit with the mothers and girls there. It must have taken all of his energy to stay awake and take in all that was happening in the pool because as soon as we got out, I dried him off, got him dressed and about two minutes after I put him in his car seat, he was asleep. He didn't even budge when I tucked him in and carried him out to the car. He has also been very mellow this evening. We should take him to the pool more often!

A Trip to the Pool
This is how Liam spent his first trip to the pool. Sleeping!

Meanwhile, the girls had fun splashing around. Moira made a friend and Kyla loved going down the kiddie slide.

This is the giant slide that Will and Moira went down.
We've talked about getting a membership to the pool for a long time, but it's expensive. Now that we have more kids and they are getting older we thought it might be worth it. We decided to try it and got a one month pass. The girls had a good time and are already asking when we can go back. Once upon a time Will used to lifeguard here, once before I knew him and then again while I was pregnant with Moira.

A Snake in the House
Last night Will found a garter snake in the kitchen. The girls and I freaked out. Will only laughed at us. I'm so glad that he found it and not me. I would've screamed, eventhough it was just a little one. I hate snakes! We're not sure how it got into the house. The weather has been nice lately so we've been keeping the back door open. It probably snuck in that way. I didn't even know that there were any snakes around here, but Will said that now that the vegetation is filling in around the neighbourhood they might be starting to move back in. (It hasn't been that long since this was all farmland.) Yuck!!! It will be a long time before I feel comfortable in our yard again.

Good News
Hi, Everyone!
We finally have a name for The Boy. It took much prodding on my part for Will to contribute to the decision making, but it's done. However, you are just going to have to wait until you get the birth announcement in the mail to find out his name. Sorry, everyone! My friends and I didn't spend all that time making the cards for nothing. Besides, this will give you something to look forward to.
Love to you all!

The Boy's Quilt

This is the quilt that I've been working on for The Boy. I started it a couple of months ago, but when he was born I wasn't able to work on it. Yesterday I was determined to finish it. I hated having it hang over my head. I also had some other projects that I wanted to start, but I felt like I needed to get this one completed first. I feel like I have a weight lifted off my shoulders, not to mention that I'm proud of myself for actually making a quilt. This is the third one that I've done. The next one I want to do is one for Will and I. I bought the fabric for it over a year ago, but never got a chance to work on it. I am determined to get it done by Christmas (of this year).

This is a close up of some of the squares on the quilt. They look like old story book pictures. I saw the fabric on line and had to have it.

Camping

This weekend Will and his brother took all of the girls camping out in the desert over night. It was very brave of them! They went hiking in one of the canyons, made s'mores and through rocks into the creek. They went about 2 hours southwest of Boise on the other side of the Owyhee mountains. It won't be too much longer when the snow will shut the roads down and this part of the state will be cut off until next April. They all had a good time. Those of us left behind had a nice time too!
